My experience:

I work in fashion, portrait, beauty, commercial and wedding photography and for various editorial magazines and newspaper supplements as well as commercial, PR, and advertising clients.  I’ve photograph celebrities, portraits, businesses, interiors, events, commercial work of all kinds and weddings. I have also been very lucky to have travelled to many Countries in the course of my work and am incredibly grateful for those opportunities. The celebrities here show my experience in photographing these interesting characters and the trust that clients have in me to obtain the results they want, without fail.

What does my job entail?:

Being a professional photographer is a job which requires many different attributes, some of them learnt from 30 years experience and some of them part natural instinct. Those 30 years help me to confidently make quick decisions about lighting of all kinds (and there are many), camera settings, lenses, backgrounds etc.

Aside from the technical, the creative element is something that I find comes naturally and I always enjoy discussing that side of the business to make the pictures as interesting for you as possible.

I am a perfectionist and I will always make sure that I have achieved what you want to my own high standards before the photography is complete. I will constantly be looking to see if anything can be improved upon.  I take this side of my work very seriously and professionally. However, I am very relaxed and down to earth. (ps I do have a sense of humour by the way and not in a ‘I’m mad me’ kind of way you’ll be pleased to hear).

Taking the picture is one aspect these days and when the photography is complete, the pictures are downloaded, checked and minor adjustments made if necessary. I will take the best pictures possible in camera but if they can be improved more afterwards, this will be done and sent securely over the internet and/or put in a password protected folder that only the relevant clients can see.

The final images chosen are then enhanced further in the post production process using Photoshop to make the final shots the best they can be. This may just include doing a bit of darkening some areas and brightening some others to many hours in photoshop creating the end result. I am a photographer at the end of the day, not a digital artist so I want my pictures to look like photographs.

Who and what do I photograph?

Every photographic situation is different. I love adapting to suit each situation, whether shooting a celebrity, portrait, a corporate or commercial job. Sometimes I need to be discrete and sometimes I need to be bold and make my presence known. I have worked in so many genres of photography that adapting comes naturally. There is one word I think is important in the work I do - whether it’s a portrait, a landscape, a car or an interior and that word is flattery. Flattery to me is making someone or something the best it can look.

Respecting a clients needs is vital to keep them coming back to me and I will still see every job as unique and bring all my passion and experience to your shoot. Basically I love the job but if I’d have said that and nothing else, I’d like to think you would have believed me from looking at my work but these words should convince you.

A consummate professional, I have no hesitation to recommend Stephen for his incredible work in all fields of photography. He is a perfectionist in every detail of his work, able to adapt very quickly without ever compromising the brief. Ive always been impressed with his ability to create sophisticated, playful yet clean imagery in both architecture and portraiture whilst remaining one of the UK's prominent beauty photographers. I have worked with Stephen over many years and would so again without a second thought.

Jan Carrington

Stephen was extremely professional and engaging. He intuitively gained a real sense of who I am and what I wanted to achieve through my photo's for my business website. Subsequently, I have received some great feedback! I would " highly recommend " working with Stephen.

Minki Malkin

Musican/Voiceover artist

Stephen is a true visionary. Having certain expectation working with him on photoshoots, I am always amazed by the fact that the photographs will always go that little bit beyond what I had imagined. He is methodical yet spontaneous and can see things through his camera lens that us mere mortals can only dream of. The results are art, not just photographs.

Zara Watson

Professional Model

I have worked with Stephen many times on shoots, videos and workshops and every time is AWESOME! Shooting is always fun, absolute breeze and of course the results are mind blowing - every single time!! I adore his work and style, and there I nothing he cannot photograph to an outstanding standard!
I have also worked on Photography training courses with Stephen, where he teaches other photographers whatever they want to know basically! There is nothing this man doesn't know about photography, lighting and shooting (anything at all not just models!) He is so inspirational, passionate and full of an infectious energy....it was great to see the photographers (students) looking genuinely enlightened and enthusiastic and at the end extremely happy!
Stephen has a brilliant way with people, he is relaxed and friendly, like your best friend within 30 seconds and absolutely genuine, just one of those cool chilled out guys that gets on with everyone!
Very very highly recommended for absolutely everything to do with photography, and even making tea ;) creative genius :D
